At the close of the American Revoilutionary War many British troops were settled in Nova Scotia - the men of the 2nd Battalion of the 84th Regiment of Foot, commanded by Major General John Small , were disbanded at Windsor Noba Scotia in April 1784. Among the men granted land in Douglas (now called Hants County) was Donald Grant (b 1735? in Scotland) who was married to Marjory daughter of the Earl of Seafield in Abernathy in August 1775 when she was 21.
Children Mary, John (Spain), Donald (b. Glasgow, May 9, 1784), Robert, James.
Donald was given land but he asked for more and a seperate grant was made to him and his four sons (above) in 1816, a total of 1303 acres.
Donald married Isabella Scott (daughter of William Scott) and they had 12 children:
